Osho is one of the most famous spiritual guides of our times. As all of them, he has better things/teachings than others but he definitely has a great set of quotes that can inspire us to lead a better and more balanced life. Your life begins where fear ends – Osho Fear is an interesting…
1. You invest in your education
You read books. You spend a certain amount of your income on education. You continue learning and growing every day. Napoleon Hill recommends spending at least 10% of your income on education because that’s what he found successful men did. Most people don’t spend any time or money on their education after finishing school; think about that for a moment.
2. You have a definite plan to be successful.
The true meaning of the word success is subjective, but for the sake of this section of the article let’s just say it means attaining wealth. Most people have no such plan to do so. They spend their lives wandering aimlessly, graciously taking the first job they can get. They happily settle for mediocrity and an average life. If you want to be better than average, then you have to stop doing things average people do. Get a piece of a paper, write down your goals, and exactly how you plan to achieve them. It’s ok if you have to make changes to the plan later.
3. You know what you’re going to do with money before you have it.
Part of your plan to be successful should obviously be how you are going to spend your money. You’re kidding yourself if you think time and money management don’t play a huge role in success. Why do you want money? What are going to do with it? How much of it are you going to invest? How much of it will you donate or give to charities? These are all things to consider.
4. You actively work to destroy bad habits and addictions.
Think about all the time and money people waste with addictions. Now think about what they could do with all that time if they put it towards a definite plan to be successful. As discussed earlier, time and money management are critical for success. Bad habits can be anything you do on a regular basis won’t benefit you in some way. Especially over indulging in entertainment and hanging around with negative people.
5. You start avoiding negative and/or unproductive people, including friends and family.
Remember that you are the average of the people you spend the most time with. So maybe it’s time for you make some new friends, and meet some new people. If you’ve already started distancing yourself from people who broadcast negativity, rest assured you are doing the right thing! Shielding your mind against negative people is a very challenging and stressful thing to do. So ask yourself this. If you can avoid them, why wouldn’t you do it?
6. You have a mentor and/or a mastermind.
This is easily one of the most important principles of success that Napoleon Hill talks about in almost all of his books, the mastermind, or working with a group of positive people to attain a common goal or objective. The power of two or more minds working together is ALWAYS better than one. Even simply having a mentor would do you a lot of good. Listen to the people who have what you want, and work with positive productive people who have similar goals. Success is, without a doubt, much easier with the cooperation of other people.
7. Your entire day is planned. Everyday.
We all get 24 hours in a day. What do you do with them? Every day when you wake up in the morning you should know exactly what you’re going to do that day to bring you closer to your goals. I have a challenge for you. Write down your objectives for tomorrow on a sheet paper every day before you go to sleep. This WILL make you more productive.
8. You learn from failures instead of being discouraged by it.
“In every adversity or defeat there is a seed of equal or greater benefit.” That’s Hill talking. There is a lot of meaning behind this quote. Every time you fail or find yourself overcome with defeat, there is always an equivalent advantage if you are willing to look for it. A loss or a crippling handicap may cause you to find opportunity in places you never would’ve thought to look otherwise. Learn from ALL of your mistakes. Keep in mind that failing is part of success.
9. You take initiative without anyone telling you to do it.
Enthusiasm is the key here. How bad do you really want to achieve your goals? You should be thinking about them every day, all day. You should be enthusiastic about achieving them. You should be obsessed with them! Napoleon Hill always talked about a burning desire to achieve. Having a burning desire leads to action, if you’re not taking action towards your goals even when you’re alone without anyone motivating you, then you don’t really want it enough. It’s as simple as that.
10. You would rather go to a seminar or read a book than watch a movie.
That’s right. The average person in modern society spends way too much time on entertainment and not enough on self-education. Unless you’re trying to be a professional gamer or a director, playing video games and watching movies does absolutely nothing for you in most cases! You really have to ask yourself, what are you willing to give up to learn? Can you give up TV for a few months? Can you give up social media? Depending on your goals, plans, and how fast you want achieve or accomplish them this may very well be a necessary step. Now I’m not saying work hard and give up all the things you enjoy in life, not by any means. However, you should have strict discipline and control over how many hours you indulge in entertainment or recreational activates everyday. Andrew Carnegie, one of the richest men on the planet before his death, recommended no more than one hour a day.
